About Iron Axis Structural Engineering

Iron Axis Structural Engineering is a Dubai-based engineering team specialising in post-tensioned (PT) concrete. Our engineers bring 15+ years of PT design and site experience across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the wider GCC.

We work to Dubai Municipality and the other UAE authorities' PT design and submission criteria, our lead engineer is registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE), and PT slabs are analysed and designed in RAM Concept.

We are a design and supervision practice: materials and site labour come from the PT specialist contractor appointed for the project, so our design, review and site checks stay focused on the engineering.

Every emirate, and some master developers and free zones, has its own authority with its own way of receiving structural and post-tension submissions. The engineering principles do not change, but the code edition, the format of the calculation report, the drawing requirements and how comments are raised do. Our engineers have worked with these requirements over 15+ years in the UAE and the wider GCC, so a PT design or review from Iron Axis is prepared to the criteria of the authority that will check it.

At kick-off we confirm which authority has jurisdiction over the plot, the governing code and edition, and the consultant's specification. The calculation report, tendon drawings and comment responses are then prepared in the format that authority expects. Submissions themselves are made through the consultant of record.

We work as PT design consultant to consultants, main contractors, developers and PT specialist contractors: designing PT flat slabs, banded beam floors, podium slabs, transfer slabs and beams and PT rafts, reviewing designs by others, designing strengthening for existing slabs, and supporting stressing on site.

Every calculation is clause-referenced to the governing code so a reviewer can follow it, and models are handed over with the package. Codes in regular use include ACI 318-19 with PTI DC80 guidance, EN 1992, BS 8110 and the Saudi SBC 304 where it applies. PT slab analysis and design is in RAM Concept; production in AutoCAD and Revit, supported by in-house tools that write tendon layouts and schedules directly into the drawings.
